The Tenor Ukelele

The tenor Ukelele is simply a larger (nearly twice the size) Ukelele. Its tuning is a slight variant in that the fouth string is dropped an octave which makes the tuning pattern exactly the same as the higher four strings on the guitar. This instrument has become quite popular in grade school music classes as its size fits the children well, it is not overly expensive, and the learning transfers to the guitar later. It is also strung with nylon strings.

There is also a Baratone Ukelele (not pictured here) which is yet again larger and which is tuned an octave lower that the standard Ukelele.
