The Banjo Guitar

Banjo Guitar

This instrument is another example of musicians irresistable urge to experiment. While it does not contribute anything basic to the field, It does allow guitar players to play a strident, loud guitar and to at least look as though they were playing a banjo. There are some guitar finger-picking styles that work surprisingly well on this instrument and all else aside, it is fun to play!

Just to go to the extreme, I have seen and worked on a Banjo Bass. That is to say a six foot long banjo with a drum-head nearly three feet in diameter, with the same four heavy bass strings of the Base Fiddle, designed to be played verticaly by a standing player!
